Fall Herbal CSA: Tea & Cooking Blends
The CSA (community supported apothecary) bundle offers you a discount on the price of a seasonally themed bundle of teas made with locally grown herbs. Your purchase goes back in to the growing, processing, and sourcing of local, beyond organic, and therefore aromatically and medicinally potent herbs.
These herbs are blended for taste, and have nutritional and energetic benefits that may support our bodies and comfort our nervous systems during the decomposition and letting go of fall. This box contains 1oz of each loose leaf blend, with harvests freshly dried from this year.
SOOTHE: roselle, spearmint, passion flower vine, marshmallow root, strawberry, damask rose (California grown)
To soothe matters of the heart, and the cooling waters of the body, especially for those of a fiery nature.
Qualities:
sweet ~ floral ~ minty ~ tart
refreshing ~ calming
BREATHE: hyssop, peppermint, spearmint, mullein
The strong aromatic hyssop with the menthol quality of peppermint can help get us moving calm and clear headed. Mullein is a friend to the lungs while spearmint offers a little bit of sweet flavor. Supportive to the head, chest and lungs, and also moving for the digestion. Helpful to diffuse what needs to go, like a respiratory illness, a tension headache, stagnant digestion, asthmatic symptoms, a head cold or a fever.
Qualities:
aromatic ~ refreshing ~ clarifying~ peppermint forward with notes of licorice
these herbs may work together to help ease respiratory or digestive tension; get the breath flowing, or support the driving out of a cold or fever
1oz loose leaf tea*, in compostable packaging
*To make tea, use approx. 1 tbsp per cup of water and let steep, covered, for 5-10 minutes. Longer infusions make stronger tea. Sweeten with honey; add more or less if desired for potency and flavor.
MEDITERANNEAN COOKING BLEND: a mix of California grown oregano, za’atar, rosemary, sage and thyme
Culturally, these plants are often overlooked as the foundations of European cooking. But they are Native to the Southern Mediterranean Basin, and have been medicinal, culinary, and spiritual allies in the SWANA region for as long as humans have known herbs.
These herbs also protect the immune system and support circulation and digestion.
1oz
A few of my favorite ways to use:
add to a simmering base of garlic, onion and olive oil for tomato sauce, tagine, soup, beans, etc.
on roasted potatoes with garlic and shallot

on a grilled piece of meat
WARMTH SPICE TEA BLEND: turmeric powder, green cardamom, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, ashwaganda root, black pepper, rose
Some comforting, spiced warmth to promote circulation, ease inflammation, warm up the body and relieve stress. Spices are single origin, fair trade and the Ashwaganda and Rose are organic, grown in Sonoma, CA.
