About the Souk

These small batch, handcrafted herbal tea and spice blends are an expression of my love for blending, preserving and tending to aromatic and medicinal plants.

As with food, the energy behind where our herbs and spices come from informs a great deal of their potency. For this reason, I refrain from sourcing from conventional distributers and prioritize tending to the orgaharvests available to me locally. The herbal blends are made with harvests that have been either grown by my self in Sonoma County (on Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo lands) or gathered from other beyond organic farmers in the region. The spices are sourced directly from single origin traders who support the integrity of Indigenous farmers and their continued stewardship.

In Morocco and the neighboring region, souks are colorful, aromatic, open air markets with botanicals, seasonal foods, Indigenous crafts, spices, herbal remedies, and more. Souks were some of the original ‘farmers markets’ of 3000 years ago. In these both timeless and ever-evolving spaces, food, medicine, and beauty are woven together, all of the same sacred earth source. Growers, gatherers and traders rely on the souks as a way to distribute their harvests, and the souk relies on the wisdom of the people who know what to do with them: kin who share these goods with their respective homes and communities, keeping the culture of care alive.
